Civil Service Academy was established by the Governemnt
of Kerala in February 2005, under the aegies of the Centre for Continuing
Education Kerala.
AIMS and OBJECTIVES
Civil
Service
Academy has been
setup with specific objective of giving intensive coaching to young
men and women who aspire for top posts in Civil Service.
WHY THIS INSTITUTE?
Kerala had a strong representation in country's Civil Service
earlier, but not so now. Lack of focus in the educational system,
lack of orientation to civil service eamination and inadequate guidance
are often cited as reasons for the declining trend.
There is a wide gap between what is expected and what is delivered
when we take stock of the available coaching facilities. Civil Service
Aacademy attempts to bridge this gulf.
DURATION OF THE COURSE
The course begins
in July 2005, and ends in April 2006. The schedule is designed to
give the students adequate time to prepare for the Preliminary Examinations
in May 2006.
FEES
An amount of Rs.
25,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand Only) will be charged from
each candidate. The amount paid will cover registration and tution
fees. However, the fee for making use of digital facilities of the
Academy shall vary from month to month and will depend on the extent
of the candidate's usage. (Plans are affot to start video-conferencing
facilities at the Academy and modalities of payment for e-content
reception / generation are yet to be finalised.)
LIBRARY
The Academy has
a well-stocked library. The candidates can also avail themselves
of the Internet and other online facilities available here. They
will be allowed to download files of relevence at reduced rates.
The library subscribes to all leading dailies and magazines. Periodicals
giving prominence to competitive examinations will also be available.
FACULTY
Eminent people
including Civil Service officers will ineract with the candidates.
Visiting faculties will be invited to conduct personality development
and motivational classes. Dr. D. Babu Paul IAS (Retd.) is the Mentor
Emeritus of the Academy.
DISCIPLINE
The Academy considers
the discipline of the candidates to be its prime requisite. The
candidates are expected to present themselves for classes on time
and to participate in discussions quite earnestly. No candidate
shall be allowed to absent himself/herself from classes without
prior permission of the authorities concerned. Not withstanding
the above, the Academy shall strive to inculcate in each and every
candidate a sence of natural discipline that would render modes
of external disciplining redundant.
SPECIAL PROGRAMME
The Academy feels
that coaching alone would not suffice for a comprehensive development
of one's personality. It has to be sculpted through interaction
with one's community, showcasing one's creative abilities and more
importantly, shedding one's inhibitions. The Academy has chalked
out a series of strategies for accomplishing this task.
INDUCTION PROGRAMME
The course will
start with an induction programme to familiarise the students with
the pattern of examination and the development of strategies to
achieve their aim.
